Alaska, Here I Come

I was supposed to visit Alaska for the first time in June of 2020. COVID had different ideas.

Fast forward to February of 2021. I'm reminded of my several hundred dollars in Alaska Airlines credit and start to research trips I could take on my own. I search "Alaska photography tours" and come across a random webpage of a Boston-based photographer who leads bear tours in the "Alaskan bush."

Take my COVID stir-craziness, add a glass of wine or two, and all of a sudden I've signed up for the waitlist of a one-week Alaska bear adventure. To make sure the tour guide isn't a total loon, I sign up for his Zoom photo sessions as well. I join the first one, and apart from the heavy BAAHSTAN accent (sorry, John), he seems legit. And I'm absolutely loving his pictures.

Just two weeks later, he contacts me. A spot opened up. I signed on.

In just four short months, I'll be staying in the boonies with complete strangers, trekking into the wilderness to take pictures of grizzly bears.

What did I get myself into?

I can't wait. Alaska, here I come!
